USA: FCC Reactivating Equipment Authorization System (EAS)

Back

Entirety reports on January 21, 2019, The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released a Public Notice to announce that the EAS is reactivated after reviewing the contract obligations. Is worth mentioning that all other services remain suspended. Most radio transmitters require certification to meet the technical requirements of the USA law. The reactivation of EAS will enable the Telecommunications Certification Bodies (TCB) to grant equipment certifications and for devices to be imported and marketed in the USA. Due to the shortage of resources, the commission will not provide support to TCBs. it is necessary for TCB’s to consult for certain process as Pre-Approval Guidance (PAG) which is applied to devices that require complex testing or special requirements.
