On June 12nd, 2019, MTC announced through the newspaper El Peruano the modification of its Specific Regulations for Homologation of Telecommunications Equipment and Devices in order to include new requirements for the homologation of mobile terminals in the country. As of July 24th, all cell phones entering Peru must have the Cell Broadcast system, so that devices receive warning messages when the Emergency Alert Early Messaging System (Sismate) is put into operation by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
