The National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) issued a notice regarding a new regulatory instrument: the ICT Equipment Type Approval Rule, 2022.
The ICT Equipment Type Approval Rule aims to ensure that only type-approved ICT equipment is placed, sold, or used in Papua New Guinea, and sets minimum technical regulatory requirements and administrative procedures for imported ICT equipment. Such as the Type Approval Certificate which will require test reports, Compliance labeling, and DoC. The type approval certificate will be valid for a period of three yearsThis changes have taken effect from the date published in the notice, which was February 2nd, 2023.
