The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), influenced by the need to open up the space for the delivery of broadband services to subscribers and according to the Nigerian National broadband Plan of 2013, decided to auction available spectrum within the 2.6 GHz band, 2 portions of 70 MHz each. The offer includes 14 lots of 2 x 5 MHz FDD paired spectrum in the 2.6 GHz band ranging from 2500-2570 MHz and 2600-2690 MHz. Applications could be submitted until April 29th 2016, and the auction is expected to be held between May 17th – 19th 2016.
