Mexico – IFT published IFT-016-2023 a Public Consultation for Low Power Radio Communication Devices

On December 1st, 2023, the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) is seeking  comments regarding a new regulation titled “Technical Provision IFT-016-2023 – Low-Power Radiocommunication Devices: Devices Using Frequency Bands in the Range of 30 MHz to 3 GHz – Specifications, Limits, and Test Methods.”

The primary objective of this Draft Regulation is to establish technical specifications for low-power radiocommunication devices, equipment, or products that may utilize frequency bands within the radio spectrum range of 30 MHz to 3 GHz. Additionally, the regulation outlines the test methods to verify compliance with these specifications.

Furthermore, it is imperative to note that upon the enforcement of this new regulation, products falling within its scope must undergo laboratory testing in Mexico for evaluation. This marks a departure from the previous practice of document-based assessments. The Institute emphasizes the significance of adherence to the specified testing procedures, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the regulatory framework.
