On December 1st, 2023, the Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) released the “Technical Provision IFT-017-2023: Radiocommunication systems that use wireless access – Local area radio networks-Radiocommunication equipment that uses the digital modulation technique and that operates in the bands 5150 MHz-5250 MHz, 5250 MHz- 5350 MHz, 5470 MHz-5600 MHz, 5650 MHz-5725 MHz, 5725 MHz-5850 MHz and 5925 MHz-6425 MHz.
The primary objectives of the Preliminary Project are:
- Regulate technical specifications for products using radiocommunication systems in local area radio networks and employing digital modulation within designated spectrum bands (5150 MHz-5250 MHz, 5250 MHz-5350 MHz, 5470 MHz-5600 MHz, 5650 MHz-5725 MHz, 5725 MHz-5850 MHz, and 5925 MHz-6425 MHz).
- Develop measurement procedures for technical specifications.
- Define the specific complementary conformity assessment.
Furthermore, it is imperative to note that upon the enforcement of this new regulation, products falling within its scope must undergo laboratory testing in Mexico for evaluation.
