MEXICO: IFT Issues Public Consultation to Update IFT-011-2017 for Technical Specification for Equipment Utilizing VoLTE Functionality

On September 8th, 2020, IFT has published a Public Consultation to receive public comments regarding Preliminary Draft Modification to Technical Provision IFT-011-2017: Technical specifications of mobile terminal equipment that can make use of the radio spectrum or be connected to telecommunications networks. This is a second Public Consult for this Technical Provision, this time meant for Mobile terminal equipment operating in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 1900 MHz, 1700 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2500 MHz bands.

The main objective of the Preliminary Project consists in the case of Mobile Terminal Equipment that, since its manufacture, has all the components for the automatic establishment of voice calls, through the VoLTE functionality, this must be enabled and active for the user, so that there is no type of blocking or restriction for its operation in the network of any dealer or, where appropriate, authorized mobile service.
