HONG KONG: Communication Authority Announces Withdrawal of 26 GHz Frequency Band

On March 21, 2017, the Communications Authority (CA) announced the withdrawal of 26 GHz frequency band as of April 1, 2019. Spectrum: 24.25 – 27.5 GHz in Hong Kong will be assigned to 5G mobile services. It is currently covered by sections 32G (1) and 32H(3) of the Telecommunications Ordinance (Cap. 106) (“TO) under two carrier licenses. Affected licensees in the 26 GHz band will be given alternative frequencies to continue operating before their expiry date.
