Colombia: Public consultation for the regulatory simplification of Resolution 5050 of 2016

Back

Recognizing the need for ongoing and comprehensive simplification due to market dynamics, the CRC plans a new comprehensive review of Resolution 5050 of 2016 as part of its 2024-2025 Regulatory Agenda. This aims to keep the regulatory framework updated, promoting business growth, competition, and investment. The review will use criteria from the “Regulatory Improvement Policy,” considering market evolution, technological advancement, regulatory duplication, and changes in higher-ranking regulations.

Additionally, the project will identify not only obsolete regulations for elimination but also those that can be simplified through modification. A public consultation will be held from May 31 to July 1, 2024, allowing operators to propose simplifications to the regulations in Resolution CRC 5050 of 2016. The regulatory proposal will be discussed sector-wide in the fourth quarter of 2024, with a final decision expected in the second quarter of 2025.
