Argentina Postpones RAMATEL Implementation to Dec 2026

Back

Argentina’s Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM) has announced a formal delay regarding telecommunications equipment regulations. The agency is postponing the RAMATEL implementation timeline across the country.

Resolution 843/2026 officially postpones the effective date of the RAMATEL registry from September 1 to December 1, 2026. This extension was authorized by the agency’s appointed overseer to maintain legal certainty within the industry. Furthermore, existing certification rules remain valid for a few additional months to ensure an orderly regulatory process.

Reason for the Postponement

ENACOM postponed the new framework because conditions for proper execution were not yet met. Specifically, during implementation, the agency determined that technical and administrative conditions were lacking.

The additional time allows ENACOM to complete outstanding tasks. Moreover, this ensures an adequate, orderly, and efficient implementation of the new procedure.

Impact on Manufacturers & Tactical Opportunity

The RAMATEL implementation will not become mandatory on September 1, 2026, as originally planned. Telecommunications equipment registrations will continue under Resolution 729/80 and related regulations until December 1, 2026.

Equipment registrations approved under the current framework prior to December 1, 2026, remain valid for three (3) years. However, after this 3-year term, manufacturers must adapt these registrations to the new regulations; otherwise, they will be automatically cancelled. Manufacturers should leverage this transition period to advance pending registrations under the current procedure, securing 3 years of market access.

Status of the Previous Regulatory Framework

The previous regulatory framework will remain in force until December 1, 2026. On that date, Resolution 729/80 and other regulations listed in Article 16 of Resolution 57/2026 will be officially repealed and replaced as the new framework enters into force.
