The Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (INDOTEL) released on September 1st, 2022, a Resolution 082-2022 to share the public comments received and the considerations taken by the authority for the operation of the indoor Short-Range Devices inside the frequency band 5925-7125 MHz (6 GHz band).
This decision was made to align the Dominican Republic, with other countries in the region such as the United States, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras and Peru
The main considerations mentioned are:
- The Devices that operate inside the band 5925-7125 MHz must use the generic license
- The Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) must not exceed 30 dBm, to avoid possible interferences
- Very Low Power Devices (VLP) whose maximum power spectral density does not exceed -8 dBm/MHz and with an EIRP lower than 14dBm, can be used in an outdoor application
- Operation in the 5925-7125 MHz frequency band of indoor access points and fixed client-type devices is prohibited in automobiles, trains, ships, airplanes, or unmanned aircraft.
Any comments or opinions will be received by INDOTEL until 20 working days from the release date and must be directed to the email consultapublica@indotel.gob.do
